Uniform Code of Military Justice
The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is the foundation of military law in the United States. The UCMJ was passed by Congress on 5 May 1950, signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and became effective on 31 May 1951. Prior to this, each service branch had separate military justice codes. The UCMJ is found in Title 10, Subtitle A, Part II, Chapter 47 of the United States Code.
