Spending Restraint
16 June 2006
I saw your press relaese about spending restraint I agree accept I think that you must know that Medicare will be insolvent in 7 years or less and therefore say there should be no more mandatory spending. If Medicare goes insolvent it will be because of the ballooning cost of the perscription drug bill which you voted against. We should fix that immediately by allowing importation of lower-cost medications and allowing the HHS Secretary to negotiate for medicare patients as a block and thus lowering prices.
I also ask in the name of spending restraint that you support the Dorgan amendment to the defense bill because it would creat a bipartisan commission to look at the issues involved with spending in the Defense budget and allow for a nonpolitical decision to be made withregard to what should be dispose of because of waste, fraud and abuse.
Please take greater action and look at all options on spending restraint becasue it is important to the country. Thank you.
