Social Security and Medicare
5 December 2004
Dear Fellow American:
I too read the NY Times article of which you speak. What is wrong with asking for more sacrifice in order for the reform to occur? The suggestion of higher payroll taxes did not go over well with fellow Republicans. Creating a Sustainable and modern system is important.
Right now I do not have the ability to invest my money, but Sen. Graham's proposal would allow me to do this through chosing to divert 4% of my payroll contribution to a personal investment account. I am assuming that you are in the group that would not be allowed to place money in personal accounts and that is why you are against it. Who are you accusing of having it all given to them? The people that would have the option adn possibly exercise it are those who could not otherwise afford to invest.
The members of congress contribute to the Social Security System. They have since 1984. You are correct about the Medicare Perscription Drug Benefit that does not help those it should. Sen. Graham voted "No" on H.R. 1 Medicare Perscription Drug Modernization Act of 2003 because he felt it was bad legislation. He is in the Social Security system and will recive the same benefits you or I will through this program.
Sen. Graham has the idea of increasing the income cap on Social Security taxes to $200,000. This would tax for purposes of Social Security his entire Congressional salary. This money would go to pay for the transition costs of $1 trillion created by his plan.

I read in the NY Times where you senile little runt said to have the affluent pay higher payroll taxes to pay for the lousy idea of reform. I NEVER got the chance to invest my own money, so why in the hell should I and the others who NEVER had the chance you want to give to the ones who have IT ALL GIVEN TO THEM, get the break we wanted BUT NEVER GOT?????? I WANT TO SEE YOU THIEVES IN CONGRESS AND THE OVERPAID FEDERAL WORKERS IN SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDISCARE, BEFORE YOU EVEN BRING UP THE SUBJECT OF REFORM. YOUR FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS BEFORE THE LOUSY MEDISCARE REFORM THAT WE DID NOT NEED OR WANT FOR THE SO CALLED "POOR" AND THE FORTUNE 500 AND DRUG COMPANIES, WAS TO ELIMINATE YOUR THIEVING VULTURINE SELVES FROM THE LOUSY MEDISCARE FOR YOUR TAXPAYER FUNDED ROLLS ROYCE HEALTH CARE AND PENSION PLANS. THIS TIME GET YOUR LAZY, THIEVING SELVES ON THE SAME PLAN YOU FOIST UPON US!!!!!!!!!!!HOW ABOUT INCLUDING ALL OF CONGRESS AND THE FEDERAL WORKERS IN THE AFFLUENT PAYING HIGHER PAYROLL TAXES????????
