Senator Graham is Fighting for an UP-or-Down Vote

22 May 2005

Dear Fellow American:

You are mischaracterizing the deal that is being crafted by Sen. Graham and the other Senate negotiators attempting to avoid changing the Senate's rules. The deal call for the 6 Democrats to not support either starting or maintaing a filibuster and calls on the GOP negotiators to agree to not vote on the rule's change. They have been working on this for 1 week and there is hope.

This deal does not doom the nominees to defeat it will guarantee them a vote.

This obviously is not a backroom deal if we no about it.

All nominees will get an up-or-down vote on the Sneate floor.

Sen. Graham would reject a deal that did not guarantee a vote on all nominees evnthough he did say that he would consider a deal that jettisoned two of the nominees. All of them will get a vote. He said this morining on Late Edition that there was one nominee that he would not name that would be rejected by the Senate.

Please think about the consequence of your request. If we end filibusters now than in the future when the GOP is the minority party and the Democtrats have the White House and Senate then they will have the option to use this tool to encourage compromise and have extended debate.

He is not sellin out the principles by which he lives. He is trying to avoid a more polarized country and Senate. This is a good thing. The rule's change will only cuase nothing else to be done just like this debate is already doing.

America voted for the principle of an up-or-down vote, but would rather get there with a bipartisan process than divisively. Sen. Graham is doing what is best for the Country, which is what he was elected to do.

He is representing ALL the people of South Carolina be pursuing this deal, which he should becasue he was elected by the entire state.

Please stand firm -- all Judicial Nominees -- Up or Down Vote

May 20, 2005

Please do not cut a deal that would allow Democrats to continue filibustering the President’s judicial nominees.

This is all about Religious Freedoms kept in the Court! The Court's must not run this country!

The President’s judicial nominees shouldn’t be doomed to defeat by a backroom deal.

NO BACKROOM DEALS!!

ALL NOMINEES -- deserve up-or-down votes ON the Senate floor.

PLEASE -- reject any deal that doesn’t guarantee fair up-or-down votes on all of President Bush’s judicial nominees.

PLEASE -- do YOUR part to end the Democratic filibusters once and for all.

PLEASE -- do not sell out these principles!

America voted in 2004 for these principles.

Are you representing the people of South Carolina??
