Graham to Democrats: "No, I'm Not Returning it!"
4 October 2005
Today it was reported that formrt House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was indicted for conspiracy and money laundering by Travis County D.A. Earle.
Graham recieved $5,000 from ARMPAC, the national affiliate of TRMPAC in 2001. This was before there was even an investigation into Mr. DeLay's fundraising so it was legal to tak e the money.
Now Democrats are demanding that Republican congressmen] give the contributions back to the committee citing the indictment as the reason. Since Sen. Graham recieved his contribution in 2001 he should not be affected. He has not accepted any contributions from this PAC since this time and the first talk of scadal was in 2002. Of the Request Graham's spokesman Kevin Bishop said that since the federal PAC was not the subject of the inquiry that "Sen. Graham has no intention of returning the contribution. It was legally received, reported and spent."
I do not think that Sen. Graham should return the contribution because the national PAC was not involoved and even if it was his contribution predated the scandal.
